I use the state-of-the-art method, developed in Switzerland, that has proven to be most successful, the GBT (guided biofilm therapy EMS).

Guided Biofilm Therapy is based on clinically proven technologies invented by EMS. It was developed in cooperation with highly respected and experienced periodontologists, caries specialsits and dental hygienists.

The treatment starts with an accurate diagnosis of the condition in your oral cavity, followed by the removal of the biofilm at gingival margin or below the gingival margin, using sand-blasting technology. The air polishing powder used for sand blasting is based on erythritol or glycinate and provides us significantly less abrasive, targeted, risk-adjusted elimination of biofilm based on the initial diagnosis.

This process is followed by a targeted, minimally invasive removal of mineralised calculus using an ultrasonic instrument regulating the frequency of ultrasounds, thus enabling a comfortable removal of calculus, while using various antimicrobial mouthwashes.

The Piezon ultrasonic cleaning technique, developed by EMS Dental – International, is less painful and makes the surface of the tooth smoother than other ultrasonic extensions.

If you don’t respond well to ultrasonic cleaning, manual instruments will be used in the process. In this way, we can clean biofilm in a professional, efficient manner which is gentle, safe, quick, and pain-free for the patient.

In advanced cases of parodontal disease, further therapeutic procedures are then performed in order to remove and smoothen dental tartar from the surface of the crown and the root of your teeth below the gingival margin.

Using the Airflow and Piezon method, the treatment process is easier, less painful and therefore more pleasant for the patient, which is why it represents a modern alternative to other techniques. EMS Dental offers several different methods and instruments, depending on the needs of the treatment. These methods can be used in prophylaxis, parodontology, orthodontics, and in professional cleaning of implants.

DON'T FALL FOR "GENTLE AND PAINLESS" LASER TREATMENTS!

Most studies show that treating parodontal disease with lasers is, statistically speaking, no more effective than conventional treatment. It contributes minimally to faster stabilisation of dental pockets, providing that you have previously underwent conventional treatment, i.e. mechanic removal of both hard and soft dental plaque. Many people only undergo laser treatments; if applied superficially, they can only cover signs of infection without really treating them!
